| In the year 2000 there was a climbing convention on Kalymnos. You could say the introduction of climbing. At the moment, there are 45 areas with over 1500 pitches, from F4c to F8a, on the beautiful west coast of the island from Pothia until Emborios.
The rock is of excellent quality limestone and sharp at only a few points.
Climbing on Kalymnos is exciting and you only need basic equipment.
Because of the ideal climate you can climb the whole year but the best seasons are spring and autumn. Most of the pitches are west or southwest, so they have the morning shade.
